This
10-week training course is overseen by 18-year veteran legal
secretary Angela Lazzara, with lectures given by BHBA member
attorneys who specialize in various areas of law covered in the
course. The broad scope of material provides an overview of legal
procedures from the attorney's and the secretary's perspective.
Our course is designed for secretaries who may be new to the legal
environment needing to develop specific skills inherent to the law
office. The classes provide in depth emphasis on legal terminology,
court structure and legal procedures. Ms. Lazzara devotes one entire
class to preparing and filing court documents.
The cost of the course is $595.00. The price includes the
Law Office
Procedures Manual and various hand-outs and materials. Beverly Hills
Bar Association Personnel Referral Service will award a certificate
to those students who have met our attendance (at least 80%) and
scholarship standards.
CRITERIA FOR POTENTIAL PLACEMENT AFTER COMPLETION OF COURSE:
-Typing minimum of 70 words per minute, excellent grammar and
spelling.
-Computer proficiency expected.
