Judge Sergio C. Tapia II is the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. He previously served the Court as Supervising Judge of the Criminal Division, Assistant Supervising Judge of the Criminal Division, and Assistant Supervising Judge of Limited Criminal Traffic. Judge Tapia has dedicated his career to promoting access to justice, serving on several Superior Court and Judicial Council Advisory Committees and Governor Gavin Newsom’s Judicial Selection Advisory Committee. He is a former Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles attorney and a Deputy Public Defender and Deputy Alternate Public Defender for the County of Los Angeles.
