Being a Race-Conscious Leader in Law
Increasingly lawyers understand the importance of racial justice work. Many want to attract staff who want to be part of a solution to this generation?s greatest civil rights struggle. We recognize the need to build diverse teams to effectively take on this challenge. Yet, micro-aggressions and examples of implicit bias are common in legal offices ? even those most committed to equal justice as an ideal. Leaders frequently do not realize they exist nor appreciate how they impact staff. In this session we will explore areas where leaders are often unaware of these issues and consider how we can more effectively address this problem.
