Last month the California Supreme Court approved the State Bar’s new Client Trust Account Protection Program (CTAPP). Many of its provisions went into effect on December 1, and all attorneys should become familiar with the program’s new requirements, since all attorneys who represent clients and have funds on deposit must comply with all of the new requirements early next year. Deborah Wolfe and Brett Schreiber will discuss what the requirements are, who has to comply, and how to comply, whether you are a solo practitioner or a member of a law firm with multiple attorneys.
As a young lawyer Brett Schreiber began to distinguish himself as one of the next generations of legal leaders. In his second year of practice, he tried his first serious injury case to verdict and in only his fourth year of practice earned recognition as one of San Diego’s Top Attorneys, perhaps the youngest person to do so. He then proceeded to serve as the youngest President in the history of Consumer Attorneys of San Diego (CASD). Mr. Schreiber is currently an Officer of the Board of Directors of Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC).
Deborah Wolfe has been licensed to practice law in California since 1981, and in Arizona since 1982.
Currently, Ms. Wolfe acts as a trial and legal ethics consultant to other attorneys and as an expert witness in the areas of legal ethics and civil litigation. She frequently lectures on topics related to legal malpractice and ethics, and is currently a member of the San Diego County Bar Association Legal Ethics Committee, on which she has served since 2006. Ms. Wolfe served as member, then Chair of the Legal Malpractice Law Advisory Commission to the State Bar of California from 2010 through 2013. She has authored articles in legal ethics in the San Diego Lawyer magazine, the County Bar weekly newsletter, and on the San Diego County Bar Association’s website. Ms. Wolfe is a co-author of “Opening and Managing a Law Office”, published by the State Bar of California.
Certified Legal Specialties: Legal Malpractice Law by State Bar of California; Civil Trial Advocacy by National Board of Trial Advocacy
Ms. Wolfe is the recipient of two Trial Lawyer of the Year Awards and several Outstanding Trial Lawyer awards from the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. In 2017, Ms. Wolfe received the annual Daniel T. Broderick, III Award for Civility, Integrity, and Professionalism.
