Notice Taken: Mastering Judicial Notice for Litigators
About the Program

This program provides litigators with practical guidance on judicial notice in California courts. Participants will learn the distinctions between mandatory, permissive, and compulsory judicial notice, master procedural requirements under Evidence Code sections 451-460, and navigate common pitfalls including hearsay considerations and limitations on establishing facts through judicially noticed documents. Through case examples and hypotheticals, attorneys will develop strategic approaches to requesting and opposing judicial notice in both trial and appellate proceedings.
