Caleb Mason has a long track record of success in complex cases, both criminal and civil, in federal and state courts, from investigation and trial through appeal. He was a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of California, and has practiced here in Los Angeles for the past fifteen years. He handles trials and appeals in courts across the country.
Caleb was Editor-in-Chief of the Georgetown Law Journal, then clerked for the Hon. D. Michael Fisher on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He is a widely-cited commentator on criminal justice and legal affairs, on television and in print. He frequently serves as an expert consultant and witness in drug-trafficking cases. He’s published dozens of articles on criminal justice and legal affairs, and a well-reviewed crime novel, Stand Up for Bastards.
Caleb is committed to serving the public interest as part of his legal practice. He served two terms (2015-2023) as a commissioner on the City of Claremont Police Commission. Since 2017, he’s served as a Judge Pro Tempore in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. And he’s represented dozens of indigent clients in the Ninth Circuit as part of the court’s Criminal Justice Act and Pro Bono panels—including criminal defendants, immigration petitioners, prisoners, and civil rights litigants.
