You will learn various strategies and techniques to protect assets, including domestic and offshore trusts with trust protectors, the use of legal entities, equity stripping, protection through retirement plans, and other strategies. The program will cover both proactive measures and crisis planning, addressing common scenarios and pitfalls. The speaker has been practicing and teaching asset protection for over 20 years and the presentation will be very practical and solution driven.

Managing Partner

Jacob Stein, Esq., TEP is the managing partner of Aliant, LLP in Los Angeles and one of the country’s most recognized authorities on asset protection law. Attorneys and CPAs across the country refer clients to Jacob when a client is facing a lawsuit, a loan or personal guarantee default, an auto accident with excess exposure, a government investigation, or simply owns too much to leave unprotected. Over more than 25 years he has represented over two thousand such clients, from small business owners to some of the world’s most prominent families, and he regularly handles the cross-border tax and wealth issues that come with them.

Jacob is a California Certified Tax Law Specialist, is ranked in the Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide, holds the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has been named a Super Lawyer by Los Angeles Magazine for over fifteen years. He earned his law degree from USC and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown. He is the author of three books, including Asset Protection for California Residents, the only book of its kind focused on California law.

Jacob has taught more than 1,000 continuing education courses to attorneys, CPAs, and financial professionals, and spent ten years as an adjunct professor of taxation at Cal State Northridge. He limits his practice to asset protection and related cross-border tax and wealth planning and works alongside each client’s existing attorneys and advisors. He welcomes questions from fellow professionals, including on matters that may never become an engagement.
