About the Program

Dr. Lenton Aikins, Ph.D., J.D. will present a Historical Perspective on Implicit Bias, how it informs our views and influences our opinions of the world that we find ourselves in, including, but not limited to identifying what implicit bias is, recognizing how it influences you and your colleagues, organizations, how to manage our own biases, particularly in the workplace.

Dr. Aikins will discuss the historical role that implicit bias has played in the influence that it has had on employment law and court decisions, including theories and doctrines adopted by the courts which has had a profound effect on litigating employment cases. The main critique of implicit bias will be noted.

Lenton Aikins earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Southern California and his J.D., from Western State College of Law. He practiced Law for 25 years. Prior to law, he was a Professor and Real Estate Broker. He is a lifetime member of the NAACP and the Founder of the Academic Booster Movement in California, serving as Charter President of the first Academic Booster Club in California at Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California.
