Alan is a partner in the private client and tax team at Withers Bergman LLP.

He focuses on tax matters involving corporations, partnerships, tax-exempt organizations, individuals, and the income tax aspects of intra-family wealth transfers, including related tax compliance and reporting.  Alan advises US and cross-border clients in tax planning related to the purchase, sale and restructuring of various entities.  He counsels investors on the tax aspects of both US inbound and outbound opportunities, including investments in real estate. He also represents successful families and individuals looking to move to or from the US or within the US across state lines. Coordinating with advisors around the world, he helps clients manage their multi-jurisdictional investments and tax interests.  

Alan provides guidance to early-stage companies and their founders on strategies to attract investment and enhance exit opportunities. He also regularly works with musicians on tax-efficient approaches to their catalog sales, foreign-sourced income earned from royalties and touring, and their related tax and reporting obligations. Additionally, Alan has experience advising individuals and businesses on tax aspects of cryptocurrency and digital assets development and investment.

Prior to joining Withers, Alan worked at top accounting firms providing tax advice and annual compliance/reporting services.
