A judge has presided over State Bar Court cases since 2019, handling everything from professional misconduct and criminal convictions to reinstatement proceedings and the court’s Alternative Discipline Program for attorneys navigating substance abuse or mental health challenges. As the current supervising judge of the trial department, he brings a frontline perspective on how these cases unfold and what attorneys need to know to stay out of trouble. This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from a sitting judge about the ethics pitfalls that come across his desk most often.

Judge of the California State Bar Court

Judge Dennis Saab has been a judge on the State Bar Court since July 2019. He presides over a variety of cases involving California attorneys. The cases comprise of professional misconduct, criminal convictions, inactive enrollment due to mental illness or infirmity, reinstatement after suspension and disbarment, and others. Judge Saab also hears cases involving the State Bar Court’s Alternative Discipline Program for attorneys with substance abuse and/or mental health illness who have committed misconduct. He is currently the supervising judge of the court’s trial department.
