Attorneys assisting clients with real property transactions need to have at least a general familiarity with insurance coverages. Leases, licenses for pop-up stores, construction contracts and other common agreements include insurance provisions. The requirements, the endorsements, and the policy language can be very specialized. The availability of different coverages and their costs can be significant. California’s insurance market currently is experiencing turmoil, with some insurers leaving the market.
