HOLLYWOOD DIVORCES: An Insider's Perspective on Navigating A Divorce

This MCLE, co-sponsored with the BHBA Entertainment Section, focuses on cross over issues family law
attorneys should be apprised of when representing clients working in the entrainment industry. An
entertainment law attorney veteran will explain issues regarding how various contracts and deals can
be structured and negotiated, topics such as intellectual property, royalties and other forms of
compensation, and endorsement deals will also be discussed. A family law attorney will explain how
these concepts can impact family law proceedings, including issues of support and property division. A
forensic accountant will also be on hand to explain how property rights, such as royalties and other types
of IP, can be divided in a divorce. Additionally, the panel will explore how entertainment attorneys and
family law attorneys can and should work together when they share a common client.
