About the Program

Los Angeles Superior Court

The Honorable Lawrence H. Cho has served on the Los Angeles Superior Court since 2005 and is currently assigned to the Santa Monica Court House handling civil jury trials. Throughout his judicial career he has handled assignments in criminal, small claims, traffic, unlawful detainers, and unlimited civil. He was born and raised in the New York and New Jersey area. After graduating Rutgers College, with a major in Economics, he attended Rutgers Law School-Newark and obtained his J.D. Following graduation, he came to Los Angeles to serve as a law clerk on the U.S. District Court to the Honorable Manuel L. Real of the Central District of California. Following his clerkship, Judge Choreturned to New York to join the firm of Cravath, Swaine, & Moore as a litigation associate. Judge Cho returned to Los Angeles in 1990 to join
the United States Attorney’s Office as a federal prosecutor. Over the next 15 years, Judge Cho was appointed to numerous significant roles including Chief of the General Crimes Unit, Chief of the Organized Crime Strike Force, and following September 11, 2001, led the newly formed Terrorism and Organized Crime Section. From 2003 to 2005, Judge Cho was appointed to serve in Washington D.C. as the Deputy Chief of the Counterterrorism Section at the U.S. Department of Justice.

Howard Gould is a practicing lawyer and also holds a California real estate broker’s license and he is a registered patent attorney with the US Patent and Trademark Office. 

Mr. Gould’s practice covers many areas of commercial law, with specific emphasis on corporate and partnership disputes, real estate transactions and litigation, and business formation and transactional agreements. Over more than 40 years of practice, his experience covers a wide variety of industries, nationalities, and issues ranging from the mundane to the extraordinary, especially in his litigation and corporate governance practice. These industries include retail, restaurants, manufacturing such as the plastics industry, aerospace related industries, banking, provisions to common carriers, financing, homeowners associations, and many, many others. He attended numerous Boards of Directors meetings, obtained the appointment of provisional directors, and handled various types of appraisal issues in both the corporate setting and real estate matters. 

He served as a judge pro tem for 10 years, an arbitrator, a mediator and attended training for those roles. He also provided extensive service to various types of non profit activities, including public schools. Mr. Gould earned his AB in physics from Columbia University in NYC and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. Finally, for over 30 years his firms actively participated through his efforts in international lawyer referral networks including Lawyers Associated Worldwide and IR Global.
