Catalog Sales - The Music Law Beat
About the Program

Are gold records the new gold bullion for investors in these rocky economic times? Join Host Bill Hochberg (Raines) and his guests Laurent Hubert (CEO of Kobalt Music) and Jeff Biederman (Greenberg Traurig) as they break down why music catalogs are outperforming traditional investments, how copyright terms and public domain risks impact value, and what strategies owners are using to keep iconic legacies of Dylan, Springsteen, Bowie and others thriving for future generations. It’s not just nostalgia fueling the market—it’s a fierce, fast-moving business battleground.

The BHBA’s Music Law Beat is a new podcast series hosted by Bill Hochberg that explores the legal controversies and contracts shaping today’s music industry. From defamation lawsuits to free speech battles to eye popping copyright transactions, leading attorneys break down the high-profile matters that truly matter. Each episode offers timely insight into the intersection of music, media, and the law.
