About the Program

Alex Glancy

Gundzik Gunszik Heeger LLP

Alex Glancy is a partner and founding attorney at Gundzik Gunszik Heeger LLP, where she practices transactional law. Alex advises startups, social enterprises, impact-oriented companies, and creatives. She focuses in the areas of corporate structuring and governance, fundraising, business transactions, and intellectual property.

Alex is experienced with the formation of business entities including LLCs, corporations, benefit corporations, nonprofits, and cooperatives. She also counsels on fundraising strategies and handles securities compliance at the federal and state levels.

In addition to her corporate and securities work, Alex leads the intellectual property (IP) practice. She counsels on copyright and trademark matters for entrepreneurs and creatives, including negotiating, reviewing, and drafting IP-related contracts of key importance to clients’ IP portfolios. She has represented graphic designers, visual artists, and producers in these areas.

Alex graduated from Harvard Law School, where she participated in the Community Enterprise Project. She holds a bachelor’s degree with honors from Northwestern University in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences (MMSS) and Anthropology. Prior to joining GGH LLP, she worked at the Arts Law Centre of Australia, the Office of the General Counsel of New York University, and at a global law firm.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Alex prides herself on being a community lawyer of service to her city. She has presented to groups at UCLA, CalArts, and the California Center for Cooperative Development.

Cate Chang

Mill Law Center

Cate is licensed to practice law in California and New York, and resides in Northern California. After nearly a decade of practice as a corporate tax lawyer advising clients on the tax considerations of mergers and internal restructurings, Cate Chang redirected her legal training and years of experience to working with and advising nonprofit organizations.

Before joining Mill Law Center, Cate was an associate at Adler & Colvin, where she had the opportunity to support a wide variety of established organizations, advocacy groups, and startup charities and foundations that are committed to leading the way in progressive philanthropy. Prior to that, Cate was a Volunteer Attorney in the Immigration Program at Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto.

Cate is a graduate of Columbia Law School. Her corporate tax experience began at a large New York law firm and includes a stint at a Silicon Valley Fortune 500 corporation.

When given the choice, Cate will always choose biking or walking over driving, and she loves camping with friends and family.

Mikka Gee Conway

Mikka is Senior Counsel at ArtConverge, bringing over three decades of experience in curatorial, administrative, legal, and senior leadership roles at arts organizations ranging from a small artist foundation to a large private collection to college museums and major art museums in California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Washington D.C.

Mikka holds degrees in art history from Stanford University and Williams College and a J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School.  Following law school, she clerked for the Honorable David M. Ebel on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and worked in Washington D.C. as an associate in the tax group of a major law firm.  She is licensed and active in California and New York.
