About the Program

The traditional windows and related revenue streams for film and television programs are rapidly changing. What does that mean for the valuation of new programs and movies? What metrics are key in the age of streaming? The panel will examine the new economic reality, how it impacts the valuation of programs and what these new economics mean for the ever-changing back-ends of actors, writers, directors, and producers.

Possessing expertise spanning the entire media content supply/value chain, including developing, financing, producing, and distributing film and scripted and unscripted television with an extensive international network of contacts in entertainment, sports, media, and law.  Skilled in deal-making, collaboration, and problem-solving in high-pressure/high-stakes environments with a result-driven approach. Trusted advisor in legal, strategic, communication, and IP/content protection and exploitation. Mr. Fleming began his legal career as manager of Business Affairs for Worldwide Film Completion before law school and joined Irell & Manella LLP upon graduation.  Mr. Fleming is a USC Gould School of Law graduate and earned an MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business and a BA from the University of Arizona.

Patrick previously served as a director of Consilio, a prior portfolio company of a Shamrock Growth Fund. Before joining Shamrock in 2014, Mr. Russo was a Senior Managing Director with FTI Consulting where he co-managed the firm’s Valuation and Financial Advisory Services Group. He was also a co-founder of The Salter Group (acquired by FTI in 2012), a leading global independent financial and strategic advisory firm that specialized in the entertainment and media industry. Mr. Russo is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Happy Hippie Foundation.

His specialty includes profit participation and forensic accounting on behalf of talent, investors and co-producers at both the major and mini studios. Ilan has over 30 years of accounting experience in public accounting and private industry serving clients primarily in the entertainment, financial services and distribution service industries.

Ilan has written various articles and other publications and regularly participates in speaking engagements focusing on entertainment, profit participation, royalty, internal controls and anti-fraud. He also hosts GHJ’s Media Clips Podcast, leading vital discussions about the state of the entertainment industry.

Ilan is a member of the CalCPA Entertainment Conference Planning Committee (and has served as Co-Chair at least four times). He is also a member of the California State University Chancellor’s Advisory Council on the Entertainment Industry, the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the AICPA.
