About the Program

This presentation shall address what types of digital data may be acquired relating to traffic collisions. The data sources include Event Data Recorder data from cars, heavy trucks, motorcycles, sportcraft and traffic signals. Data sources also include Video analysis which can be used to determine data such as speed and location. The goal is to make people aware of potential data sources so they can be secured and preserved as soon as possible.

With a bachelor’s degree in digital media from California State University Channel Islands, Mr. Cobb credits his service in the United States Navy for developing the troubleshooting skills essential to producing meticulous forensic animations. As an Aviation Electronics Technician, he earned numerous ribbons and awards for his work in repairing complex electronic systems on military fighter jets, where precision and zero tolerance for error were paramount.

Christopher Armstrong is the founder and Senior Forensic Engineer at Armstrong Forensic Reconstruction Corp. He specializes in accident reconstruction, vehicle dynamics, and transportation crash analysis, utilizing tools such as vehicle testing, computer simulation, and Event Data Recorder (EDR) data imaging. Since 1993, Mr. Armstrong has investigated and reconstructed hundreds of collisions involving automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, and trains. He serves as an expert witness in accident reconstruction and analysis, managing rapid responses to major collisions to gather and document physical evidence. Additionally, he is one of six organizers for the SAE Accident Reconstruction technical paper session, contributing to research and publications on vehicular dynamics and crash methodologies.
