Through conversations with many in our local legal community, BHBA identified gaps in access to mediation—specifically, a cost-effective training program that attorneys can fit into their busy schedules, and a shortage of volunteers for local pro bono and ‘low bono’ mediation programs. Mediation training is free for most BHBA members, public interest lawyers, or those who commit to volunteering with BHBA’s Mandatory Fee Arbitration Program or Resolve Law LA.

I’m delighted to have been asked to contribute to the first issue of Modern Lawyer. I’m sure it will become a great way for us to share news and developments that can improve our practices and our lives, and hopefully to spark our interest in ideas or activities that might otherwise have escaped our attention.
First and foremost, I want to thank Belinda, Genna and the rest of our staff for the incredible job they do. Modern Lawyer is a prime example. It was Genna’s idea, and he put it together.

As I begin my tenure as the new president of the Beverly Hills Bar Association on October 1, I find myself reflecting on the journey that led me here—both my personal journey and that of this historic organization. It is an honor and a privilege to step into this role, and I do so with immense gratitude for the people who have helped shape my path.
