Angeli’s commitment to social justice was ignited in law school when she volunteered as an intern for the Innocence Project in 1999. Under the mentorship of wrongful conviction attorneys and forensic experts, she honed her skills in analyzing complex DNA evidence crucial for exonerating innocent individuals.
After completing law school, Angeli established a criminal defense law firm. Her unwavering commitment to justice formed the basis of an impressive career leading to more than 20 jury trials. While she is well-known for her tenacity in the courtroom, she attributes a significant portion of her success to her passion for helping others.
In 2013, Angeli co-founded “The Three Strikes Justice Center” alongside Givelle Lamano. Their collaborative efforts successfully released two inmates serving life sentences for non-violent offenses under California’s former Three Strikes law, enacted in 1996. Their groundbreaking work gained recognition when they were featured on the cover of The Daily Journal that same year.
