Barry Appell has 28 years of experience in employment litigation, representing both employees and employers in trials, appeals, arbitrations, and administrative hearings. He also has expertise in conducting workplace trainings, investigations, and preparing handbooks while advising employers on compliance with employment laws. Barry began mediating in 2018 and left his law practice in 2021 to focus on mediation full-time. From 1994 to 2004, he solely represented employers, and from 2004 to 2021, he represented both employees and employers, primarily advocating for employees. His wide-ranging experience allows him to understand disputes from both perspectives, which, combined with his straightforward approach, has led to a high success rate in resolving cases.

Barry has substantial experience mediating employment law disputes including harassment and discrimination, failure to accommodate, retaliation, leave laws, wrongful termination, wage and hour, employment contracts, unfair competition, and privacy claims.

Barry also has substantial experience mediating class actions and representative actions, such as under PAGA.

He is also experienced in mediating breach of contract and business disputes, tort claims, personal injury matters, and a variety of consumer claims such as fraud.
