Judge Stephanie Marie Bowick received her B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1984 and her J.D. from Howard University in 1988. While attending undergrad, she worked part time as a receptionist at Dumas & Associates. After passing the California bar in 1989, she worked for the San Diego City Attorney’s Office from 1990-1993, the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office from 1998-2001, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office in 2001, and as assistant general counsel for the Los Angeles Unified School District from 2001-2009. She also worked in private practice as a litigation associate at Mills & Schroeder in 1989, Berman & Clark in 1990, and Barrack, Rodos & Bacine from 1993-1996. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009.
