Karen Boyd is a partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology Litigation group at Thompson Hine, where she represents clients in patent and other intellectual property disputes. Her clients have ranged from solo inventors and universities to Fortune 100 companies, in technologies spanning pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics, and medical devices. Before joining Thompson Hine, she co-founded Turner Boyd Seraphine, an IP litigation boutique in Silicon Valley, and earlier practiced at Fish & Richardson. Karen clerked for Judge Paul Michel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and went on to teach patent law at UC Berkeley and UC Law San Francisco. She also serves as a mediator and arbitrator in IP disputes and sits on the mediation panel for the Northern District of California. For more than a decade she has been recognized by California Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers, including as the Best Lawyers Trade Secrets Law “Lawyer of the Year” in San Francisco.
