Natalie Garnica is a Senior Staff Attorney in the Child, Youth & Family Advocacy Project at Public Counsel. She represents former foster youth and low-income parents in family law, contested probate guardianships, DVROs, and in other legal issues that threaten to destabilize families and push them toward the door of child welfare. A proud granddaughter of immigrants from Michoacán, Natalie is passionate about supporting our immigrant families. She leads community trainings on Family Preparedness and the unique custody issues facing parents at risk of deportation – she has trained nearly 2,000 people on the topic.
