Ruth Cabeza is a self employed barrister at Harcourt Family law. Her practice focuses on complex litigation involving children, often where there are international issues involved. Ruth is an expert in modern family law and has appeared in several landmark cases involving surrogacy and adoption and was lead author of Surrogacy: Law Practice and Policy published by Lexis Nexis in 2018. Ruth is the editor of the Chapter on International Adoption on the online publication Butterworths Family Law and was one of the editors in the Class Legal publication of Dictionary of International Family Law.
Ruth is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Law and the Across Border Alliance of Lawyers, through which she has enhanced her knowledge of family law practices overseas and developed a wide network of colleagues working in similar fields across the globe.
In addition to her work on surrogacy and adoption Ruth is regularly instructed in 1980 Hague Abduction cases and complex private law disputes where allegations of domestic abuse are relied upon.
Ruth sits as an Acting Deemster in the High Court of the Isle of Man.
