Family law litigation is often emotionally charged, and attorneys are routinely expected to navigate high-conflict cases while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. This program examines the legal, ethical, and practical foundations for civility in advocacy—including the consequences of incivility under Code of Civil Procedure §§ 128.7, 177.5, and 271—and explores how unconscious biases can influence tone, behavior, and strategy. Hon. Jessica Kronstadt (Los Angeles Superior Court) and Kristin Trutanich (Gilligan Frisco Trutanich & Sarris LLP) will discuss reputation management, courtroom conduct, and strategies for de-escalating disputes both inside and outside of court. The session also addresses setting client expectations, managing difficult personalities, and responding to unprofessional conduct without compromising your integrity.
