This presentation is designed to guide participants in the theory and practical skills necessary for gathering, interpreting, and analyzing evidence in workplace investigations. Participants will gain insight on interview techniques to obtain relevant and reliable information and guidance on using credibility assessments to make sense of the evidence gathered. Finally, a practical case study will be used to showcase real-world evidence and credibility scenarios.

Susan Arduengo is a California licensed attorney and an Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder who conducts impartial, thorough, high quality workplace investigations throughout California. Susan has investigated a broad range of allegations in private and public sector workplaces including for non-profits and higher education. Susan has also conducted investigations into allegations against elected officials and sworn personnel including Firefighters’ Procedural Bill of Rights Act (FBOR) and Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights Act (POBR) matters. Susan is also experienced in conducting investigations in unionized workplaces.
Aisha Shelton Adam, the founder and managing partner of Adam Investigations Counsel, is an experienced trial lawyer and credentialed workplace and Title IX investigator who draws on her expansive business and employment litigation background to deliver unbiased investigations that confidently withstand scrutiny if challenged in court. Ms. Adam is a leader in workplace investigations who is known for her discretion, talent for interviewing reluctant witnesses, and skill at analyzing problematic workplace cultures.
Andie Fields is an Associate Attorney with the Genie Harrison Law Firm. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Andie earned her undergraduate degree from University of California, Davis where she majored in Communications. Andie returned to Los Angeles and received her law degree from Southwestern Law School. Andie has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star from 2020 to 2024.
