The BHBA Startup law Initiative intends to provide practical legal resources to the startup community through a series of carefully designed webinars offered in two parts, a list of selected texts, and a library of downloadable reference materials.
Through a series of webinars with scheduled question and answer periods, cohorts of founders, managers and advisors of startups will be informed about basic legal requirements and best practices for establishing and growing innovative enterprises.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Katherine was a registered patent agent. Katherine’s practice includes preparing and prosecuting foreign and domestic patent applications in various types of subject matter, including aerospace products, medical devices, automotive products, beauty products, pet products, and various mechanical apparatus’. Katherine’s practice also includes prosecuting foreign and domestic trademark and copyright applications, proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and litigation support for intellectual property claims.
David N. Weiss is a partner in our Los Angeles office. Mr. Weiss focuses on domestic and international patent protection, copyright protection, trade secret protection, and other forms of intellectual property protection. His technical experience includes electronic, software, and computer-related technologies, as well as communication technologies, mechanical devices, and e-commerce.
Jonathan Menkes provides strategic trademark counseling and brand protection for clients across numerous industries. He is also the Co Chair of the firm’s CBD and Legal Cannabis Group.
Jonathan’s practice includes domestic and foreign trademark selection and searches, trademark audits, unfair competition, false advertising, and notice and takedown procedures involving copyright and trademark claims on social media and domestic and foreign e-commerce websites. His litigation experience includes opposition and cancellation proceedings, ex parte and inter partes proceedings before then Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), and domain name disputes.
