In this session, attorneys will learn that influence is not a personality trait — it is a state. They will discover how to deliberately access the exact internal state required for the moment in front of them, whether in the courtroom, at home, or in their relationship with themselves.
The state needed to cross-examine a hostile witness is not the state needed to be present with a child at the dinner table — and certainly not the state needed to make a sustainable choice about one’s own health. Most attorneys carry the state of the courtroom into their living rooms, and the state of their depletion into their decisions about wellness. Learning to consciously choose state is the master skill of high performance and a primary lever for protecting relationships, ethics, and long-term wellbeing.
In this session, attorneys will learn:
What “state” actually is — the neuroscience and physiology of how thought, language, posture, and breath drive every outcome.
How to deliberately access focused, grounded, persuasive presence when the stakes are highest — opening statements, negotiations, partner meetings.
How to leave work at work and arrive home as a present partner, parent, and friend.
How to access the state required to take action on one’s own health, sleep, and wellbeing — even when the calendar is full.
How to build reliable, repeatable triggers so the right state is available the moment it is called for.
Participants will leave with a clear framework distinguishing the three core states attorneys most need — high-stakes, connection, and self-leadership — and specific triggers to access each on demand. This session integrates the breath and emotional language tools from prior sessions into a complete state-management practice for the modern attorney.
