The program will address the problems and solutions if your client has filed a bankruptcy prior to engaging you. It will address the scope of the bankruptcy estate (including applicable exemptions under Federal and California law), the disclosures required regarding the litigation, the role of the bankruptcy trustee in administering your client’s lawsuit/settlement, how to protect your fee and continue your representation of the client, and the process for distributing litigation recoveries to your client.
Before joining the Genie Harrison Law Firm, Jennifer served as associate general counsel for a top Internet search engine company. She then litigated and tried employment and personal injury cases, as lead counsel, at top Los Angeles law firms for two decades. Jennifer joined the Genie Harrison Law Firm as a Senior Attorney to continue the pursuit of justice on behalf of the firm’s deserving clients. In 2014 and from 2018-2022, Jennifer was honored by being listed to Southern California Super Lawyers in both Plaintiff’s Employment Litigation and Personal Injury matters. Prior to that, from 2008 to 2013, Jennifer was named by Super Lawyers to its Southern California Rising Stars list, which is a distinct honor bestowed on only 2.5% of practicing attorneys under the age of 40.
Mr. Stang, a founding partner of the firm, has dedicated the better part of his forty years of restructuring practice to helping plaintiffs pursue their rights against institutions that file bankruptcy in an attempt to evade liability. He has represented close to twenty creditors’ committees in recent mass tort chapter 11 cases and is frequently called upon when the stakes are high, including Boy Scouts of America, Weinstein Company, Takata, USA Gymnastics, and seventeen chapter 11 cases involving the Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Stang has been featured in The Wall Street Journal for his work on behalf of victims.
