About this program
California just became the second state after New York to require advertisers to disclose AI-generated synthetic performers, and SB 1050 takes effect January 1, 2027. In a panel moderated by David Shraga of Signature Resolution, Po Yi of Manatt and Sean M. Sullivan of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP explain where the two laws differ and the implications for counseling clients. California covers audio-only ads, defines when a performer appears "prominently," and drops New York's actual knowledge requirement. Enforcement differs too. California's approach opens the door to consumer class actions that New York's does not. Attendees will leave with practical steps for evaluating campaigns, building disclosures that work in both states, and managing a potential new wave of litigation risk.
