Susan Tanner is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law, where she teaches AI and the Law and Lawyering Skills. Her scholarship brings together law, rhetoric, legal writing, corpus linguistics, computational linguistics, privacy, and professional responsibility. She holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric from Carnegie Mellon University, where her dissertation examined the language, genre, and structure of legal opinions. Her work studies how legal meaning is made through language, argument, genre, narrative, institutional practice, and technology. She routinely writes and speaks about law and rhetoric, AI and legal interpretation, legal writing, privacy, legal education, and the professional responsibilities of lawyers in changing technological environments.
