Ethical Considerations of Remote Work and Virtual Law Practices
About the Program

Legal ethics experts Carole J. Buckner, Partner & General Counsel at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch in San Diego and Rachelle H. Cohen, partner at Kehr, Schiff, Crane & Cohen, LLP in Los Angeles, will discuss ethical guidance for working remotely or transitioning to a virtual law practice and other law practice concerns that have arisen in the age of COVID.

What if you?re working from another state ? and what if you?re not admitted in that state? What can your website say about your location(s)? Even if you?re staying right here in California, if you?re converting your office to fully remote, how can you continue to manage your practice in compliance with your ethical obligations? What if your or a client?s COVID risk makes appearing in court unadvisable?

The panelists will discuss the guidance in California, other states, and from the ABA on remote work and will explore numerous hypotheticals about related issues.

Can lawyer / attorney legally work remotely in the other state? Is remote work from another state legal for lawyers? Legal aspects of virtual law practice for attorneys.
