This program will explore the small estate affidavit process and the changes introduced by Assembly Bill 2016, effective April 1, 2025. Our speakers will highlight the key updates in the new law and offer practical strategies for adapting estate planning practices to align with these changes.
Aubrey Van de Wetering’s practice focuses on tax and estate planning, trust and estate administration and charitable planning. Since beginning the practice of law, Ms. Van de Wetering has enjoyed advising high-net-worth individuals and their families, helping them meet their estate planning and charitable goals.
Ms. Van de Wetering was admitted to the California Bar in 2019 after receiving a J.D. degree from University of Southern California Gould School of Law. She received a B.A. degree from the University at Wisconsin Madison in 2014.
Ms. Van de Wetering was born and raised in Los Angeles. She is an active member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Mr. Parr crafts bespoke plans to help his clients preserve and enhance their wealth for future generations. Mr. Parr also advises fiduciaries in administering trust, probate, and conservatorship estates. He is adept at navigating the procedural nuances and complex family dynamics often involved in these matters.
When an administration goes awry, Mr. Parr is ready to litigate. His planning and administration experience make him a potent advocate. Mr. Parr’s ability to analyze estate plans with a drafter’s eye and handle contentious situations with tact gives his clients peace of mind.
Mr. Parr worked in church ministry before becoming an attorney. His ministry experience shapes his approach to client service, allowing him to counsel with a unique blend of legal acumen and personal understanding, particularly during emotionally charged situations. He is devoted to providing guidance that not only addresses the legal aspects a case but is also sensitive to the personal and familial dimensions.
Mr. Parr is dedicated to continuous learning and building up the legal community in Los Angeles. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Trusts & Estates Section and on the Board of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys – Southern California Chapter, where he stays abreast of the latest developments in trusts and estates law. His commitment to excellence and client-centered approach makes him a trusted advisor for those seeking guidance through the complexities of estate planning and administration.
Mr. Parr earned his Juris Doctor degree from the USC Gould School of Law. During law school, he was on staff of the Southern California Review of Law and Social Justice and externed for the Honorable Judge Gregory Alarcon. He is currently earning his Master of Law (LLM) degree in Taxation from Loyola Law School.
