William O. Douglas sat on the U.S. Supreme Court for 36 years, longer than any other Justice in history. Early in his career he had strong interest in bankruptcy law. Before his appointment to the Supreme Court, he directed a study for the Securities and Exchange Commission on corporate reorganizations. Justice Douglas brought to the Supreme Court a greater knowledge of bankruptcy law and practice than any Justice who had preceded or any who has followed him.
Whitman Holt, the Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Washington has researched and prepared a CLE program about Justice Douglas. In this program, moderated by J. Scott Bovitz, Judge Holt will talk about how Justice Douglas has impacted the practice of bankruptcy law today.
