Civility is one of the cornerstones of our society and the legal profession. Yet in recent decades it seems to be withering. The California Civility Task Force was convened to identify methods to bring civility back to the legal profession. This program brings together champions of civility from the bar and the bench and members of the Civility Task Force to discuss common drivers of incivility, what incivility looks like in practice, methods to be more civil while zealously advocating for your clients, impact of incivility on clients and counsel, and more.
Judge Jana Seng was appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court in 2018 by Governor Jerry
Brown and became the first Cambodian American judge appointed to the bench in the state of
California. Judge Seng is currently the Assistant Supervising Judge of Criminal Division, Traffic
for the Los Angeles Superior Court, and the site judge of the Metropolitan Courthouse.
Judge Jessica Kronstadt was appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court in March of 2023.
Before becoming a judge, Judge Kronstadt served as a deputy district attorney at the Los
Angeles County District Attorney’s office. She was assigned to the Sex Crimes Division, where
she prosecuted child sexual abuse matters. She was recognized by the Anti-Defamation League
and Mayor Bass for her efforts to combat Antisemitism. In May 2022, Judge Kronstadt was
named a “Wonder Woman” by the Jewish Free Loan Association. In March 2022, she was
recognized as a Women’s History Month honoree by the Los Angeles County Bar Association
(LACBA).

Ms. Rosing also represents professionals before disciplinary agencies, including the State Bar of California, and represents judges and commissioners in matters before the Commission on Judicial Performance.
